
Jeremy Haynes to DL; Jim West joins Kernels

August 16, 2007 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels announce today that RHP Jeremy Haynes has been placed on the disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis and that RHP Jim West will join the Kernels from the Orem Owlz.
In 19 games for the Kernels, Hayes had a 5-6 record and 3.06 ERA. In 94 innings, he allowed 98 hits and 40 runs (32 earned) with 41 walks and 75 strikeouts.
West pitched for the Kernels in 2006 and appeared in four games with an 0-2 record and 9.00 ERA. He was selected in the 18th round by the Angels in the 2005 Free Agent Draft out of Chandler-Gilbert CC in Arizona. In 16 games with the Owlz, he has a 1-2 record and 3.96 ERA with 33 strikeouts and 12 walks in 25.1 innings pitched.
West will be in Cedar Rapids and active for Thursday's home game with the Peoria Chiefs at 7 pm.
The Kernels roster remains at 25 active players with five players currently on the disabled list.
