GRAND CHUTE, WI -- Tony Butler pitched six solid innings and the Wisconsin Timber Rattler offense took advantage of several early Clinton LumberKing defensive miscues for a 7-4 on Thursday night on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Wisconsin (43-76 overall, 21-30 second half) jumped in front with three unearned runs in the bottom of the first. The Rattlers had runners on second and third with two outs when Kuo Hui Lo sent a grounder to third baseman Jay Haefner. Haefner's throw to first was wild and both runners score while Lo took second. Lo stole third and would score on another two out error for a 3-0 lead.

But, the LumberKings (62-57, 21-31) came back to tie the game in the top of the second. Back-to-back singles off Butler started the inning. Haefner followed with a single to right that scored the first runner and Lo's throw to third was wild to allow the other runner to score. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by Josh Bradbury evened the game.

Wisconsin retook the lead with a couple of runs in the bottom of the third. Ron Garth started the inning with a single. Joe White extended his hitting streak to thirteen games with an RBI double into the right field corner. Jamie McOwen delivered a two-out RBI single to knock in White for a 5-3 Rattler advantage.

Butler wrapped up his night after a scoreless sixth inning. The lefty allowed three runs (two earned) and struck out six over six innings. Butler picked up his second consecutive win with his performance.

Juan Beltran tacked on a run for the Timber Rattlers with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Liddi knocked in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning with a double to pad the Wisconsin lead to 7-3.

Tom Ellis came out of the Rattler bullpen and tossed a scoreless seventh. But, he ran into trouble in the eighth. Chad Tracy hit his thirteenth home run of the season to lead off the inning. Ellis hit the next batter and left in favor of Mike Wagner. Wagner got out of the inning without any more damage.

Then, Wagner tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save of the season.

Game two of the series is Friday night. Sean White, who is making rehab start for the Seattle Mariners, is the scheduled starter for the Timber Rattlers. Kasey Kiker (5-3, 3.17) is the scheduled starter for Clinton. Game time is 7:05pm
