Yakima Valley Pippins News Release

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Most nights, outhitting opponents by a mark of 8-2 leads to a win. Saturday night, the Pippins weren't able to hold to the trend, dropping game two to the AppleSox, 4-2.

Both Wenatchee hits were doubles against Yakima Valley starter Jens Jensen. Mitchell Holland had one to lead off the 2 nd inning and scored later in the frame on an RBI groundout.

The Pippins (21-20) pulled even in the 5 th after Jace Van De Brake beat out a potential double play ball and took the lead in the 6 th on a Josh Nashed RBI triple.

Jensen started the 6 th by inducing a pair of groundouts. However, he issued two walks and a hit-by-pitch to the next three hitters to load the bases and Kyle Vanderkin brought in all three runners for the AppleSox (19-22) on a double to right field. Jensen took his first loss of the season, despite allowing just the two hits.

Yakima Valley had trouble getting to Wenatchee starter Micael Taylor, who worked seven innings and picked up the win. Reliever Brian Gadsby worked the final two innings to finish off the victory.

For the second straight series, the Pippins will head into the series finale looking to salvage a game in the series. Righty Zach Wolf, who held Bend hitless in four innings of relief on Tuesday, will make his first start of the summer for the Pippins in a 6:05 pm game.
