WENATCHEE, Wash. - Through the first 12 meetings between the Pippins and the Wenatchee Applesox, the road team has won 10 times. Friday night, the hometown Applesox turned things back in their favor, knocking off the Pippins, 11-4.

After scoring twice in the 2 nd, the Applesox (18-22) opened up a 6-0 lead with four unearned runs in the 4 th against starter Mitch Yada.

The Pippins (21-19) countered with a run in the 6 th on an RBI single from Freddy Smith, but the Applesox answered with a three-run 6 th inning of their own. Both sides traded runs in the 7 th to keep Wenatchee up by eight runs.

Down to the last out, Dayton Provost hit a solo home run to right field, his team-leading third blast this season and the first for Yakima Valley since June 28.

The Pippins will look to even the series with Wenatchee in the middle game of the three-game set Saturday night at 7:05 pm. Right-hander Jens Jensen is scheduled to take his 4-0 record to the mound for the Pippins, who had a five-game winning streak against the Applesox snapped in Friday's loss.
