
Jeff Taffe and Kris Foucault assist to lead Aeros in 5-3 win

HOUSTON --- Jeff Taffe and Kris Foucault each had a goal and an assist to lead the Houston Aeros in a 5-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night at the Toyota Center in front of a sellout crowd of 9,006.
Joel Broda, Chad Rau and Justin Fontaine also scored for the Aeros and Chay Genoway dished out two assists for Houston, which improves to 34-25-5-11 and 84 points and is a point out of the eighth playoff spot in the AHL's Western Conference. Matt Hackett finished with 19 saves.
Taffe scored a power play goal at 22 seconds into the second period to put Houston up 1-0, and Joel Broda extended the lead to 2-0 at 2:50 in the second.
Foucault scored 29 seconds later to make it 3-0, and Rau upped the lead to 4-0 at 8:01 in the second with a power play goal.
San Antonio cut the lead to 4-1 with a goal by Bracken Kearns at 19:30 in the second, and Greg Rallo scored twice in the third to make it 4-3.
Fontaine, however, sealed the win with an empty net power play goal at 19:09 in the third period to make it 5-3.
The Aeros end the regular season Sunday against the Texas Stars at 5:05 p.m. at Toyota Center.
