Jay, ME Native Back With Jacks

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks announced today the re-signing of Jay, Maine native Edwin Thompson. To make room for Thompson on the roster the Lumberjacks released RHP Matt Tindell.

A native of near-by Jay, Maine, Thompson played with the Jacks for the month of July and hit .246 with 6 RBI. The 6'2, 195 pound outfielder also displayed good defense in the outfield.

Thompson was a four-year letter winner at Jay High School and was selected as first team all state in both his junior and senior seasons under coach Chris Bessey. Edwin attended Howard University and hit .280 in his only season there before transferring to Webber University in Florida, from where he recently graduated.

Tindell, who was used as both a pitcher and an outfielder, was 0-2 with a 6.35 ERA in nine appearances. He hit .208 with one RBI, when used as a defensive replacement in the outfield.

The Lumberjacks back at Mahaney Diamond on Friday night, August 8, to begin a three game series with the Berkshire Black Bears. It's Lumberjack Bobble head giveaway night. The first few hundred fans through the gate will receive a voucher redeemable for a special Lumberjack bobble head. There will also be a fantastic fireworks display following the game, courtesy of the Lumberjacks. First pitch is at 7:15; gates open at 6.
