Jackals win second game 4-3
August 6, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Jersey Jackals News Release
John Anderson's RBI double in the fourth inning proved to be the difference as the Jackals downed the Quebec Les Capitales 4-3 in the second game of a double-header at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.
Anderson, who had his 23-game hit streak snapped in the first game of the twin bill, brought home Chris Rowan from second base with his two-bagger to give New Jersey a 4-2 lead at the time.
The Jackals had trailed 2-1 in the second inning, but Scott McKee and Rowan led off the bottom half of the inning with back-to-back singles. An error allowed both runners to move up, and on the next play McKee scored when Quebec catcher Rafael Pujols was unable to handle a throw from Galindo Gomez. Joe Kerrigan's subsequent groundout plated Rowan and gave the Jackals the lead for good.
Aaron Myers overcame a shaky first inning that included a leadoff home run by Gomez, to even his record to 6-6. Myers allowed three runs, but just one after the first inning, and allowed five hits and no walks while striking six. Julio Perez worked a scoreless ninth for his four save.
Lance Franks (4-3) allowed four runs, all unearned, and seven hits in four innings to take the loss.
McKee was 2-for-3 for New Jersey.
