Greenville, SC - Greenville Drive shortstop Javier Guerra has put together an outstanding 2015 season that included being named a starter in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game, and he added to his list of accomplishments on Monday with his selection as the South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week of July 6th-12th.

In six games during the week, Guerra put up standout offensive numbers, including a .520 batting average with 13 hits in 25 at-bats. He smacked three homers and drove home seven runs while scoring six times, drawing a pair of walks and posting a .536 on-base percentage.

Guerra becomes the second Drive player to earn South Atlantic League weekly honors during 2015, joining Michael Kopech, who was the league's Pitcher of the Week for April 20th-26th. Guerra is also the first Drive position player awarded the South Atlantic League Player of the Week since Jantzen Witte accomplished the feat the week of June 5th-11th, 2014.

The native of Panama collected hits in five of the six games this week, and all five of those games were multi-hit efforts. His four games against Asheville during the week were especially impressive, as he went 4-5 with a homer on the 8th, 3-6 on the 11th and smacked two solo homers on the 12th.

Through Monday, Guerra leads the Drive with a .298 batting average, 11 homers, 44 RBI and a .504 slugging percentage. His homer total currently ranks third in the league as well. Guerra also boasts a .349 on-base percentage, 41 runs, 77 hits and 16 doubles while playing terrific defense at shortstop.

The Drive return to Fluor Field on Tuesday night at 7:05 to face off against the Augusta GreenJackets, affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to the Main Street Box Office, call (864) 240-4528 or log on to GreenvilleDrive.com.
