Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers made a big move in the AFL free agent market Monday afternoon as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee announced that DB Jason Simpson will re-join Iowa for the 2012 season.

Simpson (6-1, 205) previously played three seasons for the Barnstormers from 2008-2010, and has five years of Arena Football experience. The hard hitting DB became an instant fan-favorite for his aggressive play and ball hawking skills. During his time with Iowa, Simpson accumulated 251 tackles and 14 interceptions. Last season, Simpson played for the Midwest Division Rival, Chicago Rush. In 18 games with Chicago, Simpson collected 8 interceptions and finished second on the team with 107.5 tackles. He also averaged 18.5 yards on kick returns.

"Jason brings immediate credibility to our defense and he will be a great leader for our secondary", stated Hohensee. "I have no doubt that he will thrive in our new defensive system and continue to be one of the league's best playmakers".

The Woodlands, TX native was an all-star in both football and track at Woodlands High School. Simpson then went on to star at the University of Missouri where he served as a team captain and was named to the All Big-12 second team in 2004.

Simpson will be among a group of 35 players that report to the Barnstormers training camp this February to compete for a spot with the club. Don't forget that 2012 Iowa Barnstormers season tickets remain on sale for as low as $117.00 per seat. Call 515-633-2255 or visit www.theiowabarnstormers.com for more information.
