KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Command added more local talent to its roster today with the assignment of Blue Springs, Mo., native and former Cincinnati Bengals tight end/wide receiver Darius Hill. Hill won a state championship with the Blue Springs Wildcats in 2003 before playing college football at Ball State University.

Hill signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent following the 2009 NFL Draft. He played in all four preseason games and earned a spot on the Cincinnati practice squad. He was signed to the active roster for the final game of the 2009 regular season. He later signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad in 2010.

The Ball State product was one of new Command quarterback Nate Davis' favorite targets in college, totaling 158 career receptions for 2,473 yards. Hill left Ball State as the school's all-time leader in touchdown receptions (31) and was named first-team All-Mid American Conference as both a junior and senior. At Blue Springs, Hill was a two-year letter-winner and an all-state wide receiver for the 13-0 title squad as a senior.

"Darius and I are always same page," Davis said. "I think we'll hit the ground running once the season starts. We haven't lost a step."

Friday, the Command assigned another Ball State alum with the addition of former NFL offensive lineman Andre Ramsey. Ramsey has had stints with the New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens, but he spent the majority of his time in the NFL with the Bills and the Seahawks, signing with Seattle in 2009 as an undrafted free agent. A four-year starting left tackle at Ball State, Ramsey was a teammate of both Davis and Hill and earned All-Mid American Conference honors his senior year, helping his team set a school record with 6,195 yards of total offense. As a junior, he helped Davis throw for a single-season record of 30 touchdowns passes and a school record of 3,667 passing yards.

"Ramsey did a great job protecting my blind side," Davis said. "He's going to be a big piece of our offensive line."
