Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS - The Southern League announced on Monday that Mississippi Braves right-handed pitcher Jason Hursh had been added to the South Division roster for the 2019 Southern League All-Star Game. The addition of Hursh gives the M-Braves seven selections to the league's midsummer classic on June 18 at Biloxi. Hursh joins fellow pitchers Ian Anderson, Tucker Davidson, Kyle Muller, and Jeremy Walker and outfielders Cristian Pache and Drew Waters.

Hursh, 27, has been named to his first Southern League All-Star team after making 19 appearances this season for the M-Braves, posting a 1.42 ERA (4 ER/25.1 IP) with 15 strikeouts and seven walks, holding the opposition to just a .198 batting average. Hursh is also 2-for-3 in save opportunities and has a 0.97 WHIP. The Brandon, Mississippi native is the M-Braves' career leader in wins (17), games (129), starts (41), innings pitched (343.2) and strikeouts (223).

Last season Hursh appeared in a career-most 53 games and combined to go 2-6 with a 3.71 ERA (28 ER/68.0 IP) between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett. The right-hander saved a career-most eight games, which was tied for sixth most in Atlanta's system. He did not appear in the majors for the first season since 2015.

Hursh is one of 143 M-Braves to go on to make their Major League debuts, making his MLB debut on Aug. 13, 2016, at Washington after the Braves selected his contract the day before.

In his second professional season in 2015, Hursh earned Braves organizational Pitcher of the Year honors after ranking second among all Braves minor league pitchers in wins (11), fifth in innings pitched (148.1), eighth in ERA (3.58) and 10th in WHIP (1.31) while playing for the M-Braves. His 3.58 ERA ranked as the sixth-best ERA in the Southern League.

The Atlanta Braves selected Hursh with their first-round pick (31st overall) in 2013 out of Oklahoma State University.
