Reno Aces News Release
Round Rock, Tex. - Bryce Jarvis showcased pinpoint control with his full arsenal of pitches, derailed the Round Rock Express's (11-5, 55-35) offense, and lifted the Reno Aces (8-8, 52-39) to a 6-3 victory in the series opener Tuesday night at Dell Diamond.
With a five-run first inning, Reno captured the win, remained perfect in second-half series openers (4-0), and improved to 3-1 on the nine-game road trip.
Jarvis (5-5) won his second-straight game as he tossed back-to-back quality starts for the first time in an Aces uniform. The Duke product limited the Express's batters to one earned run after he scattered seven hits, two walks, and six strikeouts in six innings on the mound.
Kyle Lewis, Buddy Kennedy, and Blaze Alexander each notched run-scoring base hits in Reno's five-run opening frame.
Alexander paced the Aces' offense with a multi-hit night that included three RBI, while Kennedy tallied a pair of runs batted in with the club's only extra-base hit.
Tyler Ferguson (H, 3) and Zach McAllister (S, 2) shut the door on the Express and sealed the win for the Aces over the final two frames as the duo combined for two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and four strikeouts.
