Janesville Jets News Release

Zach Diamantoni, a star Janesville Jets forward, has accepted a Division 1 scholarship offer to play hockey at Northern Michigan University in Marquette starting in the 2014-15 academic year.

The Northern Michigan Wildcats play in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) conference. The Wildcats were the NCAA men's hockey champions is 1991 and last made the NCAA tournament in 2010.

In 15 games this season for the Jets, Diamantoni (5'9", 170 lbs) has 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists). (Please see attached action photo of Zach Diamantoni.)

Zach is from Michigan, and earning a scholarship offer from a Michigan university made his decision easier, but there were other factors involved.

"Northern Michigan has a great hockey program and a first-class coaching staff, which is huge to me," said Diamantoni. "But the university also has outstanding academics, which is very important as well."

"Zach is a player that gives 110% in whatever he does, " stated Jets Head Coach Joe Dibble. "His intense competitive level and work ethic are what got him to where he is today. Zach plays the game with confidence and can create offense. Northern Michigan is receiving a great young man."

Other present and past Janesville Jets players to commit to Division 1 hockey schools include Jason Ford (Bemidji State University), Garrett Cecere (Colorado College), Alec McCrea (Harvard), Ross Mauermann (Providence), Larkin Jacobson (University of Denver) and Rui Encarnacao (University of Connecticut).
