PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that Jana Spaulding has been promoted to Vice President of Public and Community Relations. She has served as Director of Public and Community Relations for the team since May of 2009, prior to the team's inaugural season.

"Jana brought a wealth of media and community relations experience to the Red Claws when she joined the team in 2009," said Jennings. "She has a unique combination of experience in both the nonprofit and pro sports worlds, as well as strong local ties. She has been instrumental in establishing the team's ties to the local media and to the community, and this promotion is very much deserved."

Since establishing the team in 2009, the Red Claws have established themselves as a strong member of the community, completing more than 225 charitable appearances annually and participating in community projects such as the renovation of the public housing study centers at Kennedy Park and Riverton Park, the renovation of community basketball courts in Windham and Portland, and the creation of Maine's largest annual July 4th celebration, the Stars and Stripes Spectacular.

Spaulding has more than 17 years' experience in public and community relations in both professional sports and the private sector. She joined the Red Claws prior to the team's inaugural season from the Travis Roy Foundation, a Boston-based nonprofit that provides grants to spinal cord injury survivors and supports research, where she was a PR consultant for six years. She also has ten years' experience as a PR professional in professional hockey at both the NHL and minor league levels. As a member of the New Jersey Devils staff, she was a part of the 2000 Devils Stanley Cup championship team, helping to coordinate more than 1,000 media members during the Finals. She holds a degree in journalism from Boston University and attended graduate school for sport administration at Minnesota State University. The Maine native lives in Cumberland.
