Jammers split two with Colonels

The ABA Motown Jammers inaugural season began this weekend with a 112-95 loss to the visiting Kentucky Colonels. The game was played before a loud but well behaved crowd at the University of Michigan Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Michigan.
Although the Jammers were not victorious, there were many bright spots in the game including significant contributions from guard Jimmy King, forward Brian Edwards and Center Marc (Marcus Aurelius) Mazur. King led the team with 21 ponts while Edwards scored 8 and Mazur, a U of Detroit Mercy product had 16 points, 9 rebounds.
Kentucky was led by Antwain Barbour with 21 points and Xavier Oliver with 17.
The second game was a different story entirely as the Motown Jammers recorded its first win in team history by defeating the Colonels 103-85.
Once again, King lead with 17 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds while guard Corey Tarrant from Eastern Michigan had 17, Lionel Amstead 14, forward Toshire Germany 14 and Mazur 14.
Head Coach, Eric Watson, who received his first win as a professional coach said, "This was a total team effort. We changed our strategy from yesterday by focusing on a more inside/out game while maintaining our composure for the entire game. I am extremely proud of the effort the team gave today."
Antwain Barbor had 20 points, John Prise 19 for the Colonels.
The Motown Jammers travel to Oklahoma city next weekend for their first away game and then travel to Louisville before returning home on Saturday December 4th at 7PM vs. The St. Louis Flight.
