Panthers Announce C. Bill Jones as General Manager

BIRMINGHAM, MI- Co-Owner and Head Coach C. Bill Jones has added the role of General Manager to his basketball duties with the Detroit Panthers. Jones has been head coach of the Panthers since mid-season 2006 where he coached the team to a Division Title in their first year of professional competition. In 2007, he became assistant General Manager and in 2008 Jones also became co-owner of the Panthers.
"He has been with me from the start," said Co-owner and Chairman, Kevin A. Carter. "Coach Bill and I have created some great memories together while building our organization. Now having Coach in this position allows me to focus my efforts on sponsorship and increasing community awareness about the Panther Organization."
In just two full seasons as head coach with the Panthers, Coach Jones has sent more than five players to various professional basketball teams outside of the United States to further their basketball careers.
"I want to thank Kevin Carter and the Panther Organization for having the confidence in me to extend this opportunity to become General Manager of the Panthers," said Jones. "This will allow Mr. Carter to focus on promoting the organization and allows me to focus on bringing us a championship to our home town. I am looking forward to this responsibility for I really understand how the business works and have worked closely with Mr. Carter for the past three years. Overall, this is a great step in the right direction for our organization as we continue to build a solid foundation."
