Detroit escapes with a four point victory over Montreal

Detroit, MI- Stane's Bufford had 26 while Walter Waters had a double double with 17 points and 13 boards to lead Detroit to a 119-115 victory over Montreal.

The game was tight in the first with the Panthers holding a one point advantage after one with the lead widening to eight at the half.

In the third, Montreal came back strong, and took their first lead of the game 81-79 with 4:06 to go in the quarter, when David Dubois hit from inside the lane. The lead would stretch to 11 as Jasen Hunt capped off a 14-0 Sasquatch run with a 12 foot baseline jumper. Detroit would quickly come back going on an 8-0 run of their own and at the end of three, it was Montreal by four.

In the fourth, Montreal tried to stay in the ballgame, but playing with only six players, they simply ran out of legs, losing the lead for good at the 4:10 mark when Lawrence Harden hit one inside the lane. Detroit's defense tightened up and the Panthers came away with a four point victory.

Montreal was led by Rantana Sak who had 28, including seven three pointers. Kevin Benjamin had 22 with Buster Perkins adding 21 points and

15 assists.

Detroit was led by Bufford's 26; Walter Waters added 17 points and 13 boards. Michael Mancel had a double double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Up next for Detroit is a home date next Sunday against Augusta. Montreal will be in Barre, Vermont to take on the Frost Heaves on Saturday night.
