
James Blasts Second Homer, Hot Rods Prevail 7-6

Bowling Green, Kentucky - Kamren James lifted a solo shot to left field that helped the Bowling Green Hot Rods (6-4) come out on top 7-6 against the Winston-Salem Dash (3-7) on Tuesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Dash scored the first run of the game in the top of the first against Hot Rods starter Roel Garcia. Jordan Sprinkle singled and came around to score on a double by Jacob Gonzalez, putting Winston-Salem up 1-0.
Bowling Green answered back in the bottom of the first against Winston-Salem starter Tanner McDougal. Chandler Simpson walked, Brayden Taylor singled, and Xavier Isaac walked to load the bases. Colton Ledbetter grounded out to first, scoring Simpson and tying the game, 1-1.
In the top of the second, Shawn Goosenberg and Wes Kath earned back-to-back solo homers to make it a 3-1 ballgame. The Hot Rods scored again off McDougal in the bottom half of the inning. James walked and Brock Jones singled to put runners on first and third. A fielding error from Dash shortstop Gonzalez allowed James and Jones to score, evening the game, 3-3. Simpson reached second on the error, later stealing third and scoring on an RBI sacrifice fly from Taylor to put the Hot Rods up 4-3.
After Winston-Salem put up three runs in the top of the fourth against Garcia and Bowling Green reliever Nate Dahle, James led-off the home half of the inning with a solo home run that cut the deficit to 6-5. Bowling Green tied it up in the bottom of the seventh against Winston-Salem reliever Garrett Schoenle with a triple from Taylor and an RBI groundout by Isaac, making it a 6-6 game.
In the bottom of the eighth, Ledbetter doubled with Schoenle still on the mound, moved to third on a ground ball, and scored from a wild pitch that put Bowling Green up 7-6.
Hot Rods reliever JJ Goss tossed a scoreless ninth to lift Bowling Green to a 7-6 victory.
Garcia allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings. Dahle let up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts over 1.1 frames. Jonny Cuevas (2-0) picked up the win, striking out two and letting up one hit over 3.0 shutout innings. Goss (1) earned the save, notching two punchouts in a scoreless ninth.
The Hot Rods and Dash play game two of a six-game series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 11:05 AM CT. Bowling Green starts RHP Trevor Martin (1-0, 5.40), while Winston-Salem is throwing LHP Tyler Schweitzer (0-1, 6.00).
