Hoppers Drop First Game of Home Series 5-4, to the Crawdads in Extras

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped the first game of its home series 5-4 to the Hickory Crawdads. The Crawdads improved to 4-6 while the Grasshoppers fell to 6-4. Hickory outhit Greensboro 10-5 with one crawdad mishap.
Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Hudson Head as he tallied one home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Hits for Greensboro were also recorded by Maikol Escotto, Lonnie White Jr., Rodolfo Nolasco, and Josiah Sightler.
Yosy Galan led the Crawdad offense as he went 2-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Following close behind were Yeison Morrobel and Ben Blackwell as they both went 2-5. Blackwell recorded a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Hits for Hickory were also recorded by Tucker Mitchell, Anthony Gutierrez, Daniel Mateo, and Devin Hurdle.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Alessandro Ercolani as he tallied three strikeouts and gave up four hits, two earned runs, and one free base on four innings of work. Brandan Bidois took the loss for the Grasshoppers for his first of the season.
Starting on the rubber for Hickory was lefthanded pitcher Mitch Bratt as he tallied five strikeouts and gave up four hits, two earned runs, and two free bases on 4.1 innings of work. Adrian Rodriguez recorded the win for the Crawdads and moved to 1-0, while Yohanse Morel tallied his first save of the season.
The Grasshoppers continue its home series against the Crawdads tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. for the Guilford County School Day Game.
