Minnesota Ripknees News Release

St. Paul, MN. In a feat rarely accomplished in any level of basketball, Ripknee All-Star forward Jamel Staten produced a quadruple-double to lift Minnesota (15-7) to a 125-107 win over the St. Louis Stunners on Thursday evening at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University-St. Paul. Staten, a Minneapolis native and former NCAA Division II All-American at Minnesota State, Mankato, scored 29 points while grabbing 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals.

Staten wasn't the only Ripknee to put up a career night as former Winona State center Travis Leech poured in a career-high 34 points. Leech also had 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists and 2 steals. Former Mr. Basketball and U of Minnesota guard Mitch Ohnstead, added 23 points and 5 3's off the bench.

The Ripknees jumped to a 43-22 lead, the Stunners cut it to three at the half, 60-57 - and then to 60-59 to start the second half. The Stunners went on a 16-3 run and took the lead 80-75 late in the third quarter when Minnesota caught fire and ran off an 18-0 run and grabbed a 93-82 lead - and led by double digits through most of the fourth quarter. The Ripknees return to action Sunday at the Gangelhoff Center at 105pm - plenty of time to get home for the Super Bowl. For more information, visit www.ripknees.com or www.abalive.com.
