Minnesota Ripknees Set to Play in ABA Under New Ownership

October 23, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Minnesota Ripknees News Release

St. Paul, MN (October 23, 2007) - The Minnesota Ripknees are excited to announce that a new owner has finalized a deal to acquire the rights to the organization. The Ripknees will now be headed by Steve Rodriguez and his company, Jam Entertainment. Under the new ownership, the Ripknees will participate in the American Basketball Association this season instead of the Premier Basketball League. Their schedule will be released in the near future. All of their home games will still be played at Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

Mr. Rodriguez has a rich basketball history and currently owns three other ABA franchises: the Rochester Fire, the Rome Legions, and the Peoria Kings. Under this new ownership, the Ripknees now have relationships all over the city, country, and world to attract the right players and people to have a championship team in Minnesota.

Minnesota Ripknees season tickets and mini-plans are currently on sale. Please contact the Ripknees office at (651) 647-5633 or visit their website at www.mnripknees.com for more details.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
