
Jam Use Efficient Second Half to Down Red Claws

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (10-11) defeated the visiting Maine Red Claws (8-11) by a final score of 113-106. Utah Jazz assignee Rudy Gobert recorded 23 points (10/13 FGs) and 14 rebounds.
Both teams shot over 53 percent in the first half, but Maine held an edge at the break 62-53. The main difference in the first 24 minutes of the game were free-throws as the Red Claws made 12-of-15 while the Jam converted on 4-of-5.
In the second half, Bakersfield outscored Maine 60-44, shot 54 percent from the field, held Maine to just 34 percent shooting, and committed only five turnovers.
Damion James and Toronto Raptors' assignee Dwight Buycks each scored 16 points for the Jam. Jared Cunningham, on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks, had 15 points and reserve guard Von Wafer contributed 11 points. Ian Clark, also on assignment from the Jazz, and Ike Diogu each had 10 points.
Chris Wright led the Red Claws with a game-high 25 points, while Frank Gaines off the bench tallied 19 points. Chris Babb contributed 15 points.
Bakersfield will next travel to Reno, NV for a match against the Reno Bighorns on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
