Bakersfield Jam News Release
FORT WAYNE - The Bakersfield Jam (2-4) fell to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (4-2) 113-108 Friday evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. C.J. Wilcox had a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
Both teams shot 50 percent in the opening quarter, with Fort Wayne holding a slight advantage going into the second period (32-29). The Jam would straighten up their defense in the second as they held the Mad Ants to just 25.9 percent shooting and entered the half with a 53-51 lead.
The third was a see-saw battle as Bakersfield and Fort Wayne traded buckets that resulted in seven lead changes in the quarter. The Mad Ants entered the final frame with a three-point advantage (81-78) but would stretch it to as many as 13 at the 3:31 mark. Bakersfield would not go away quietly as they fought back to get within three points (109-106) with under a minute left in the game. Despite the strong effort down the stretch, that would be as close as the Jam got as the home team secured the victory by knocking down key free-throws.
Earl Clark recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Xavier Munford added 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists off the bench for the Jam. Terrico White (16) and Deonte Burton (12) also had double-digit scoring performances.
The Mad Ants had seven players score in double-figures, led by Indiana Pacers assignee Rakeem Christmas (18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Marcus Simmons (16 points, 8 rebounds). Anthony Harris and Ramon Harris each tallied 14 points off the bench.
The Jam are in Canton, Ohio tomorrow for a match against the Charge at 4:00 p.m. PT.
