Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Jam announced today that they have acquired forward Cory Jefferson as an in-season affiliate player.
"We are very happy to have Cory Jefferson come to us as our fourth and final affiliate player," said Bakersfield Jam General Manager Bubba Burrage. "Cory did a great job making the Suns roster as a training camp invite. We are now looking forward to helping him get back into the NBA through the D-League process. Cory is certainly a valuable addition to the Jam."
Jefferson (6-9, 218, Baylor) signed with the Phoenix Suns prior to training camp on September 16 and remained with the team until he was waived on January 7. He appeared in six games for the Suns, posting totals of 12 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes. Jefferson, the 60th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, played in 50 games last season with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per contest. While with the Nets, he was assigned to the D-League's Maine Red Claws and appeared in two games, averaging 10.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game.
Jefferson played collegiately at Baylor University, leading the Bears to a Sweet 16 appearance his final season (2013-14). He averaged 13.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks and received All-Big 12 Third Team honors his senior year.
