
Blue Comes up Short in Double Overtime

HIDALGO, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue fell short in double overtime to the Rio Grande Vipers, 125-121, on Wednesday at State Farm Arena. Marquis Teague led the Blue with a career-high 30 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds.
Rio Grande Valley held a two point lead with 29 seconds remaining in the first overtime, but a driving layup by Marquis Teague at the 10 second mark tied the game at 116 to force more extra time. The Vipers outscored the Blue 9-5 in the second three-minute bonus period to claim the win.
All five Blue starters scored in double figures, including Talib Zanna with his third-straight double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. JP Tokoto tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and five steals while Dakari Johnson and Dez Wells also scored 14.
The Blue and Vipers kept it close in the opening half with Rio Grande Valley holding a 50-46 advantage at the break. The Blue came out of the halftime shooting 70.6 percent in the third quarter and outscoring the Vipers 41-22. In its highest-scoring quarter of the season, Oklahoma City dished eight assists while forcing 10 RGV turnovers that led to 17 points.
The Vipers came back in the fourth behind a 27-11 run to tie the game at 110 and send it to overtime.
Oklahoma City (7-18) forced 24 turnovers, including a season-high 16 off of steals.
Rio Grande Valley (13-10) was led by Will Cummings with 24 points and seven assists.
