Atlantic City Surf News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (July 31, 2003) â Southpaw starter Jason Jacome tossed seven scoreless innings to help the Atlantic City Surf blank the Newark Bears, 6-0, on a windy, rainy Thursday afternoon in front of 4,672 at the Sandcastle.
The game was shortened to seven innings due to inclement weather.
Jacome, recently acquired as a free agent, allowed just two hits and gave Newark batters no shot on a day when the wind was blowing in from the outfield, striking out three and walking two in the process.
After Juan Thomas' sacrifice fly in the first inning gave the Surf a 1-0 lead, Atlantic City tallied three more runs in the second on a two-run double by Lauro Felix and an RBI single by Raul Marval.
Jose Velazquez had three hits for the Surf while Felix added two.
The Surf finished their season long nine-game homestand at 6-3 and improved to 12-8 with the victory. The Bears dropped to 8-12.
ON DECK: The Surf begin a six-game road trip on Friday, August 1, at 7:05 p.m., in Long Island.
