Birmingham Barons News Release
Outfielder Jacob May will join the Barons on the road July 22 as the team is set to begin a five-game series with the Jacksonville Suns in Jacksonville, Fla., Thursday.
May was injured June 2 at Regions Field after colliding with shortstop Tim Anderson in shallow centerfield. The pair of prospects were in pursuit of a pop-up when May, sliding feet-first, was struck by Anderson's left side.
May started three games with the AZL White Sox in Glendale, Ariz., before receiving his assignment to rejoin Birmingham. The outfielder made 16 plate appearances, collected four hits, three RBI and scored three runs.
Before suffering the injury, May ranked among the Southern League's top hitters with a .311 average, and led the league with 25 stolen bases.
