West Sacramento, Calif. - Two home runs by newly-signed shortstop Drew Jackson, including a ninth-inning walk-off blast, fueled a 10-8 comeback victory by the Sacramento River Cats (44-61) vs the Tacoma Rainiers (47-57) on Sunday.

Jackson, who was drafted by Seattle in the fifth round out of Stanford in 2015, stepped to the plate in the ninth with the winning run on first having already gone yard in the second inning.

The Miramonte High School product (Orinda, California) came through, lining a change-up from lefty Roenis Elias down the left field line for the walk-off winner.

Sacramento originally led 4-0. A clutch two-out first-inning double by center fielder Heliot Ramos quickly put Sacramento up 1-0.

After Jackson made it 2-0 with his second-inning big fly, the River Cats added two in the fourth when right fielder Austin Dean stole second, forcing an errant throw by rehabbing Tacoma catcher Curt Casali, which allowed left fielder Shane Matheny to score. Third baseman David Villar promptly singled home Dean to make it 4-0.

The Rainiers responded with two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh for a 6-4 lead before designated hitter Ford Proctor tied the game in the seventh with his first home run since joining the Giants organization.

Again trailing by two, this time in the eighth, Villar lined his first home run since rejoining Sacramento, a towering 422-foot game-tying homer (105.6 MPH exit velocity).

Lefty Scott Alexander (1-0), who was making his River Cats debut, earned the win with a strikeout in a perfect 1.1 innings of relief.

The River Cats have yet to name who will open their series in Salt Lake on Tuesday. The TBD will take on righty Davis Daniel (3-4, 5.34) at 5:35 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Proctor finished the day 3-for-4 with two runs and a walk, while Ramos was 2-for-4 with a run and a walk.

Righty Tristan Beck had a solid outing, striking out five while allowing two runs on four hits (two solo home runs) and one walk in 5.0 innings.
