SIOUX CITY, IA - Today Explorers catcher Daniel Jackson was named the Pointstreak Player of the Week.
Jackson a rookie from Pleasanton, CA started in all four games for the Explorers in their series versus the Lincoln Saltdogs to begin the 2018 season. In the series Jackson hit .583, with 4 runs scored, 2 RBI's and drew 3 walks. All from hitting in the ninth spot in the batting order in each of the four games. And helped the Explorers win three of the four games in the series.
Jackson collected multi-hit games in two of the four games of the series. Jackson was the designated hitter for the first three games, before starting at first base in the series finale and did not commit an error.
Jackson scored the go ahead run in the ninth inning of game one. After Lincoln tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, Jackson lead off the top of the ninth with a walk and scored off a Michael Lang triple with what was eventually the game winning run.
Jackson played his college ball at Long Beach State University before joining the Explorers last season on July 11th. He appeared in 29 games and hit .214, with 1 home run and 5 RBI's. He is already well on pace to set new professional career marks this season.
The Explorers open a three game road series with the Sioux Falls Canaries on Tuesday before hosting their home opener on Friday, May 25th versus the Cleburne Railroaders with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
The 2018 season marks 26 years of baseball in Siouxland for the Explorers, with the X's 2018 home opener scheduled for Friday, May 25th at Mercy Field at Lewis & Clark Park versus the Cleburne Railroaders in a 7:05pm contest.
