FARGO, ND- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs' P Michael Tamburino has been named this week's Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending May 20.
Tamburino (1-0) was masterful in a 4-3 win over the Sioux City Explorers on Sunday, tossing 6.1 no-hit innings while giving up no runs, walking just two and striking out four. The Righty's dominant performance came against an Explorers lineup that was looking to sweep and expand on it's league leading nine runs scored per game.
The start was the first of Tamburino's career in the American Association. Prior to coming to Lincoln, Tamburino pitched for the Sussex County Miners of the Canadian-American Association in 2016 and 2017, going 8-10 with a 4.74 ERA while striking out 177 batters and walking 60 in 184.1 innings of work.
The Saltdogs open a home series against Wichita on Tuesday May 22. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Central Time and can be viewed on americanassociationbaseball.tv.
