
Jackson Bounces Back with 7-3 Win over Huntsville

JACKSON, TENN. - Friday night the Generals bounced back with a 7-3 victory over the Huntsville Stars at Pringles Park, evening the series at 1-1. Taijuan Walker (6-5) tossed 6.0 quality innings to get the win and Carter Capps earned his 18th save in 20 chances with a scoreless eighth and ninth innings. The Generals (59-38, 17-10) hold a 1/2 game lead over the Chattanooga Lookouts in the SL North second half standings.
Huntsville struck first, with a run in the top of the first inning, but the lead didn't last long with Jackson sending two runs across. Chih-Hsien Chiang delivered a 2-run single putting the Generals up 2-1.
Jackson added to their lead in the second inning on a home run to center from Kalian Sams and Leury Bonilla scored on a passed ball. Jackson upped the lead to 4-1.
Huntsville narrowed the margin to 4-3 in the seventh inning as Lee Hydel connected on an inside the park, 2-run home run to left.
The Generals quickly responded with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI 2-out single from Rich Poythress to make the score 5-3. Jackson added two more insurance runs in the eighth to make the final score 7-3.
Chiang upped his hitting streak to 10 games with a 1-for-4, 2 RBI night at the dish. Kalian Sams was 2-for-3 on the night and Leury Bonilla was 2-for-4. Walker allowed 1 run on 5 hits, striking out 3 and walking 2. Capps struck out 5 over 2.0 innings to get the save.
The Generals wrap up their homestand with the Huntsville Stars on Saturday night, with a double-header slated to begin at 7:05 p.m. Jackson will send to the mound LHP James Paxton (4-3, 3.26) in game one while LHP Anthony Fernandez (4-0, 2.12) in game two. RHP Johnnie Lowe (0-1, 10.57) is scheduled to make the start for Huntsville in game one and a to be determined starter will take the mound in game two for Huntsville. Saturday their will be postgame high tech special effects fireworks. Saturday is also National Guard Night and Crawdads Classics Night.
