Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, WA: The AquaSox were unable to pull out a victory Friday afternoon against the Hillsboro Hops despite yet another magnificent pitching performance. Everett starter Jordan Jackson pitched six shutout innings, but the Hops prevailed with a 4-2 win. It was Jordan's fourth straight start allowing two runs or fewer.
For the second straight game, Everett jumped ahead early in the game and held the lead until the seventh. Dariel Gomez broke a scoreless game in the fifth inning with a solo home run. The home run was the 26th of the season for Gomez, who continues to lead the league in long balls. Shortstop James Parker followed with a 387-foot solo-home run to centerfield one inning later to give the AquaSox a 2-0 lead.
Relief pitcher Bernie Martinez (0-1) came into the game in the top of the seventh inning but with two outs found himself in a bases loaded jam. Adrian Del Castillo cleared the bases with a double down the right field line giving Hillsboro the lead 3-2. They would get an insurance run later in the inning on an RBI-single by Neyfy Castillo making it a two-run lead.
The AquaSox look to finish the season on a high note this weekend as Fan Appreciation Week continues. On Saturday, we will be giving away 10 flat screen televisions as we promote Fox 13's new television series Monarch. The AquaSox will be having an off-the-back jersey auction, with players wearing special themed Monarch jerseys promoting the new show on Fox13 Seattle. Jerseys will be available for bidding during the in-game silent auction. Winners will be notified and escorted on to the field after the game to pick up their jerseys from their favorite player. Post-game activities will include Launch-a Ball, followed by the final fireworks extravaganza of the season.
