Jacks Quiet Thunder with 6-2 Win
ODESSA, TX - Mike Ramsay and Sebastien Thinel each scored a pair of goals in a 6-2 win for the Odessa Jackalopes over the Wichita Thunder on Thursday night at the Ector County Coliseum. Ramsay also added a pair of assists to lead all skaters with a four-point night.
The Jackalopes (4-9-1) carried a 3-2 lead into the third period before Ramsay struck just 11 seconds into the frame to pull Odessa away for good. He added his second score with 6:35 remaining in the period as well to cap off the game's scoring.
Darryl Bootland scored the first goal of the game 2:19 into the first period for his fifth of the season after finding his own rebound in front of the net. It was the only goal of the period and gave the Jackalopes a 1-0 lead.
In period two Lance Galbraith knotted the game up with a power play goal, four minutes in, that deflected off his skate in front of the goal. The Jackalopes answered back midway through the period with a wrist shot by Jeff Pierce from the slot, and Thinel's first tally of the contest from the left circle to extend the lead to 3-1. The Thunder (6-5-1) closed the gap to one as Troy Schwab scored on a loose puck along the right side of the goal crease with less than four minutes remaining in the period.
Thinel's second goal of the game was part of Odessa's third period barrage on a wrap-around effort with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Joel Martin stopped 30 shots for his third win of the season, while Wichita's Peter Delmas put together a 22-save effort.
Galbraith's and Pierce's goals both had to be reviewed by officials before counting on the scoreboard. Thinel finished the night with a goal and two assists to place his league-leading point total at 24.
Since snapping their six-game winless streak on Tuesday, the Odessa Jackalopes have now won consecutive games for the first time this season.
