Jacks Make Moves; Sign Bernard, Activate Joly

(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes announced a number of roster moves today beginning with the signing of forward Kenny Bernard for the remainder of the 2008-2009 Central Hockey League season. Bernard appeared in 14 games this season for the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL.

The Sarnia, Ontario native was in the middle of his second season of pro hockey when Fresno ceased operations last week. He appeared in 14 games for Fresno this year, notching three assists. Last season, in his rookie campaign, Bernard played in 71 games for the Falcons, recording 41 points (15 goals, 16 assists) as a teammate of current Jackalopes forward, Mike Ramsay.

Before turning pro the forward played four years of college hockey at Ohio State University. In his collegiate career Bernard played in 132 games, scoring 15 goals and 28 assists (43 points).

Jackalopes defenseman, Mario Joly, has been activated off the 30-day IR and has returned to the team. Forward, Marc Rechlicz (RECK-lish), has been placed on the 30-day IR and defenseman, Robby Spalding, was waived by the Jacks today in order to open up roster spots for Bernard and Joly.

The Jackalopes continue their road trip on Wednesday night in Amarillo for a 7:05 PM puck drop against the Gorillas at the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team is currently in its 12th season. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
