Odessa Jackalopes News Release

Team Record: 9-5-2 (Home: 0-4-2, Away: 9-1-0)

First Place, Southwest Division - 20 pts.

The Matchup: Tonight's game will be the second meeting of the season between the Jacks and the New Mexico Scorpions (6-10-1). On October 24th the Jacks topped New Mexico, 9-2, at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM. After tonight both teams will square off five more times this year.

The Odessa Jackalopes: The Odessa Jackalopes earned their first shutout and their ninth win of the season with a 4-0 win at Corpus Christi on Wednesday night. Juha Toivonen turned away 19 shots from the IceRays' offense to preserve the first shutout of his professional career. Sebastien Thinel scored two goals to give him a team leading 10 on the season. Jean Bourbeau and Mike Lesperance each added a shorthanded goal as well. With the win the Jackalopes improved their road record on the year to a CHL best 9-1-0.

The New Mexico Scorpions: The Scorpions played catch-up after giving up five first period goals on Wednesday night at Arizona. Mitch Stephens made it a two-goal deficit with a goal at 16:57 of the third period, but that's a close as New Mexico would get - losing 6-4. Craig MacDonald had three points (two goals, one assist) and Andrew Martin stopped 26 of 27 shots after relieving the starter Jason Wolfe at the start of the second period.

Third Times a Charm: With a win tonight the Jackalopes will have won three games in a row for the third time this season. Odessa has not had a winning streak longer than three games so far this year.

Road Tested but Home Woes Continue: The Jackalopes have won back-to-back road games entering tonight, six in a row, and nine on the year - outscoring their opponents 51-24 when away from the Permian Basin. At home the Jacks are 0-4-2 and have been outscored 26-15. Coming up, Odessa has a seven game homestand beginning on December 2nd vs. Arizona and ending on December 14th vs. Corpus Christi.

Leveille's Streaks Snapped: Prior to their Wednesday game in Corpus Christi, Jacks' forward Dominic Leveille was on a nine-game assist and point streak. Leveille was held off the scoresheet against Corpus snapping both of those streaks which lasted from November 1st until November 22nd. Leveille's nine-game assist streak has been the longest in the CHL this season.

Milestone Alert: Sebastien Thinel recorded his 150th goal in a Jackalopes uniform on Wednesday night at Corpus Christi when he scored at 11:03 of the first period on assists from Collin Circelli and Mike Lesperance. Thinel also added his 151st goal later in the game as well.
