Laredo Bucks News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Arizona Sundogs 5-4 Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center. With the win the Bucks re-take first place in the Southeast Division with an 11-5 record (22pts).
The Bucks scored three straight goals in the third period to overcome a 4-2 deficit to stun the Sundogs.
Alex Goupil completed the Bucks come back as he scored with just 54 seconds left with a wrist shot from the right circle. The strike was Goupil's tenth of the season.
The Sundogs would pull goaltender Joel Gistedt for the final 40 seconds to gain an extra attacker, but the Bucks held on for the win.
Ryan Salvis picked up his first professional goal as he tied the game at 4-4 with 9:21 left in the third period. Salvis picked up a rebound on the right side of the crease and jammed it in past Gistedt.
Adam Rivet would pull the Bucks to with-in 4-3 as he scored a power-play goal just 2:03 into the third period. The tally was Rivet's third of the year.
Ryan Gibb won his fourth straight start in net for Laredo, as he set aside 27 of 31 Sundogs shots.
The Bucks were outshot in the contest 31-24.
The Sundogs would jump in front of the Bucks 7:45 into the first period. Adam Perry took the puck from the right corner, and stuffed in a shot in shortside past Ryan Gibb. The tally was Perry's sixth, in just his fifth game with Arizona.
Laredo would tie the game up with 9:10 left in the opening period with Arizona just ending a power-play. Rookie Jaye Judd skated down the right side of the ice, and sent in a shot from the circle past Sundogs goaltender Joel Gistedt. The strike was Judd's first professional goal.
The Bucks outshot the Sundogs in the first 20 minutes 10-5.
The second period would see a lot of action, as the Sundogs built a 4-2 lead heading into the final period.
The Bucks, however, would strike first in the second just 1:03 in. Adam Rivet led a two-on-one into the Sundogs zone, and fed a laser pass to Bobby Russell, who deflected it in past Gistedt. Rivet (7) and Alex Goupil (10) assisted on Russell's third goal of the campaign.
Arizona would then strike for three straight goals, to take a 4-2 advantage.
Just 12 seconds after the Bucks took the lead, Karl Sellan banged home a turn-around shot past Gibb to knot the score at 2-2.
The Sundogs would take a 3-2 at 8:32 into the middle when they struck on the power-play. Jon Landry found Mark Kolanos behind the Laredo defense. Kolanos then went on a break away and stuffed it in five-hole past Gibb.
Arizona would stretch their lead to 4-2 when Andre Selander sent a shot from his knees right in front of Gibb with 5:31 left in the period.
The Bucks were outshot in the second 15-6.
The Bucks will return home December 4-5, when they host Rio Grande Valley and Arizona.
