JackHammers outfielder Gary Harris signs with Phillies

JOLIET, IL-The contract of Joliet JackHammers outfielder Gary Harris has been purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies. With the departure of Gary Harris, Mike Goss returns to the Joliet JackHammers. The JackHammers purchased his contract from the San Diego Surf Dogs of the Golden League. Goss will be in the lineup tonight, as the JackHammers take on the Calgary Vipers at Silver Cross Field at 7:05 p.m.

Harris leaves the JackHammers after playing just seven games. He hit .235, did not record a home run, and drove in three runs. He recorded eight hits and struck out six times. Harris will report to the Reading Phillies, Philadelphia's Double AA Eastern League affiliate.

Goss hit .294 in 36 games with the JackHammers prior to his trade on July 4. He recorded 47 hits, no home runs, and 11 RBIs. Goss stole 16 bases and was caught stealing six times.

Loose Gravel: Tickets are still available for the JackHammers remaining two home games. Saturday night the JackHammers salute local police and fire. There will be fireworks after the game sponsored by Pepsi. Sunday Joliet takes on Calgary at 2:05. It's Family Autograph Sunday. The first 1,000 fans will receive a special baseball. The giveaway is sponsored by National City.
