JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers (17-18) recovered after allowing four runs in the first to earn the series victory with a 7-5 win Sunday afternoon over the Kansas City T-Bones (21-16) at Silver Cross Field. The JackHammers took three of four from the T-Bones and improved to 4-3 against Kansas City this season.

Joliet saw the first four T-Bone hitters score before an out was recorded in the first. Keanon Simon and Jake Blackwood both singled with Rico Washington singling home Simon. Ray Sadler lined a home run to left off Todd Privett (3-2) for the 4-0 lead.

The JackHammers answered in the bottom half, scoring three runs with two outs. Freddie Thon slapped a single to center to plate Rios and Roberto Mena drove home two later in the frame to cut the deficit to 4-3.

Todd Privett picked up the win, surviving a four run first inning to allow five runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings. The southpaw walked four, but struck out a season high seven batters.

Rafael Mendez provided the first Joliet lead with a two run home run in the third off Knippschild. Thon singled with two away and Mendez sent his first long ball over the wall in left for a 5-4 advantage.

Jimmy Mojica tied the game in the fourth with a solo shot, but Chris Colton gave Joliet the lead for good with his first home run with the JackHammers, an opposite field shot to break the 5-5 tie.

Knippschild lasted seven innings for the T-Bone, surrendering seven runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

The JackHammer bullpen shut down Kansas City the final 3.2 frames, allowing only one hit with four strikeouts. Griffin Bailey pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save while Kyle Dahman stranded two runners in the sixth and tossed 1.2 scoreless innings against his former club.
