WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Justin Justice broke a tie score with a three-run homer in the third inning as the Winnipeg Goldeyes beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 13-5, Sunday at Canwest Park.
Juan Diaz hit his 11th home run of the season and Luis Alen added his second homer for the Goldeyes, who won the last three games of the four-game series. Winnipeg won Saturday's game, 7-3, with another go-ahead, three-run homer, from Kevin West.
Rockford loaded the bases with nobody out in the first inning and scored twice, on Patrick O'Sullivan's run-scoring forceout and Rich Austin's RBI single.
Vince Harrison tied the game with a two-out, two-run single to right field in the bottom of the inning. In the Winnipeg third inning, Rockford starter Roger Lincoln walked Diaz on four pitches and gave up a single to West to start the inning. Justice hit a three-run shot to right, his first since a trade from Joliet last week, on the next pitch. Lincoln (2-3) left after a leadoff double in the sixth inning and gave up six runs on nine hits.
Diaz hit a three-run homer to left in the sixth inning and Alen homered to left in the seventh.
Winnipeg starter Chris Salamida (5-2) gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings, but struck out six without a walk for the win. Zach Baldwin pitched the last three innings and was awarded his second save.
The RiverHawks' eight-game, two-city trip begins its homeward leg with a stop in Fargo the next four nights. The series opener is scheduled for 7:02 p.m. Monday.
