Hickory, NC - The GreenJackets (11-10) rebounded on Thursday night against the Hickory Crawdads (10-11) with a 4-2 win. Starter Madison Bumgarner recorded the win with 6.1 strong innings while striking out a career high eight batters and Thomas Neal connected for his second home run in as many days.
Bumgarner (2-2) carried a perfect game into the fourth inning before allowing a lead off hit to Jose De Los Santos. Bumgarner allowed just one unearned run on two hits and did not walk a batter.
Augusta jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run homer from Neal. Francisco Peguero scored on the home run after he reached base by getting hit by a pitch.
The GreenJackets added two more runs in the third inning on an RBI base hit from Peguero and an RBI ground out from Angel Villalona for a 4-0 lead.
The Crawdads got their first run of the game in the fourth inning when De Los Santos led off the inning with a single then advanced to second on a throwing error from shortstop Ramon Corona. De Los Santos then scored after a sacrifice bunt and an RBI sac-fly to center from Miles Durham.
Hickory added another run in the seventh inning on a one out RBI double from Andrew Walker off reliever Daniel Turpen.
Daniel Otero picked up his third save of the season working the final 1.1 scoreless innings.
The GreenJackets and Crawdads finish up their three game series on Friday night. Augusta sends right-hander T.J. Brewer (1-1, 4.50) to the hill while Hickory counters with right-hander Dionis Rodriguez (0-0, 3.00). First pitch is at 7:00 p.m.

Neal has hit safely in 13 straight games, the most games this season for Augusta
Augusta has homered in a season high five straight games.
Daniel Turpen worked two thirds of an inning and allowed one run on three hits.
Joe Paterson pitched two thirds of an inning and did not allow a hit, walk or run and struck out two.
Madison Bumgarner pitched as South Caldwell High School, 20 minutes away from Hickory, NC.
Ramon Corona finished with two doubles, the fourth time this season an Augusta batter had two doubles in a game.
Every single batter in Augusta's lineup had at least one hit with the exception of James Simmons who went 0-for-4.
