Augusta, GA - One night after the Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 2-1) were shutout by the Asheville Tourists (46-24, 1-2) Augusta returned the favor with a 5-0 win over the Tourists. Starter Madison Bumgarner matched a career high with seven shutout innings and the GreenJackets plated four runs in the third inning to break a scoreless tie.

In the third inning Shane Jordan came through with an RBI single scoring Jackson Williams to put Augusta up 1-0 with one out. Nick Noonan followed with an RBI double scoring James Simmons and then on the play Jordan scored on a throwing error from Helder Velazquez on the relay. Francisco Peguero capped off the scoring in the inning with an RBI sac-fly scoring Noonan for a 4-0 advantage.

Augusta added a single run in the fifth on an RBI single from Noonan scoring Simmons for a 5-0 lead.

Bumgarner (7-2) worked seven innings for a second consecutive start and allowed five hits to just one walk. The southpaw also matched a career high with 10 strikeouts.

Waldis Joaquin pitched two perfect innings while striking out four to end the game for Augusta.

Bruce Billings (4-5) suffered the loss for Asheville allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits over five innings.

The GreenJackets and Tourists continue their five game series Sunday with Augusta sending lefty Craig Clark (5-0, 4.09) to the mound. The Tourists counter with right-hander Connor Graham (4-3, 2.21). First pitch is at 5:35 p.m.
