Mike Glendenning smacked a two-run double while three pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Jackals downed the North Shore Spirit 4-0 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.
The Jackals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Darren Blakely RBI single. After a 41-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth, Glendenning came up in the seventh and drove home two runs with his second two-base hit of the evening.
Joel Bennett (3-1) started and earned the victory for New Jersey, allowing two hits and two walks in seven innings. Bennett struck out six. Ryan Darcy and Ben Grezlovski split the eighth and ninth, respectively, to close out the contest.
Miguel Baez (4-4) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in six-plus innings. Frank Charles was 2-for-4 for North Shore.
