Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have acquired rookie defenseman Bryan Cummings from the Richmond Riverdogs in a trade Monday for future considerations.
The Kalamazoo Wings had the rights to defenseman Bryan Cummings at the beginning of the year, he appeared in one game for the Wings against Motor City. The Austin, Minnesota native was then dealt to Richmond in a three-way trade with Kalamazoo and Missouri. The 25-year old appeared in 6 games for the Riverdogs, tallying one assist, two penalty minutes and a respectable +4 rating.
"I liked the way he played in Adirondack last year," said Jackals Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Todd Brost. "He'll add some size and grit on the point and the fact that he's an experienced rookie will give us some more depth."
The 6'2" 220 lbs Cummings played three years for the University of Wisconsin-Stout as a walk on, being named team captain and earning all-conference honors. After earning his degree last December, he made his professional debut with Adirondack. Cummings appeared in 38 games for the IceHawks, scoring 2 goals, 3 assists and accumulating 71 minutes of penalties.
The Jackals return to action Wednesday night as they host the Motor City Mechanics for the first time at the First Arena; a 7:00 pm face off which is the first of four games this week.
