Pittsfield Colonials News Release

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Kris Sanchez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two of a doubleheader as the New Jersey Jackals swept a doubleheader from the Pittsfield Colonials, winning 4-2 and 2-0.

In game one, the Colonials defense let them down in the first inning when New Jersey scored two unearned runs. The Jackals scored single runs in the second and third innings to build a 4-0 lead.

Pittsfield would not get on the board until the seventh when the Colonials scored a pair of runs on a Chris Torres double to score Angel Molina and a Jermel Lomack sacrifice fly to plate Peter Fatse to cut the lead to 4-2. That was as close as Pittsfield would get however, as Jeff Gogal recorded the final two outs for his 11th save.

The win went to Michael Moore (3-0) who tossed 6.0+ innings for New Jersey. David Qualben (4-5) took the loss for Pittsfield, despite giving up just two earned runs in notching his fourth complete game of the season.

Game two turned out to be a pitcher's duel between James Leverton and Chris Rubio. Leverton (8-4) tossed a one-hit shutout, retiring the final 14 batters of the game. Rubio (0-1) came on in the third inning for Pittsfield and at one point retired eight straight batters. The only runs of the game came in the sixth when Kris Sanchez hit a two-run homer.
