JACKALS SPLIT HIGH-SCORING DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST QUEBEC Little Falls, NJ - In a power-packed doubleheader that featured a combined 29 runs on 43 hits, the New Jersey Jackals earned a split against Les Capitales de Quebec. Quebec won the first tilt 13-5 while New Jersey triumphed 9-2 in the nightcap.

In game one, the Capitales erupted for 13 runs - six in the first inning - on 14 hits as they snapped a four-game road losing streak with a 13-5 win.

In the loss, Jackals' first baseman Myron Leslie crushed a pair of home runs to bring his season total to 10. Leslie lifted a two-run home run with designated hitter Quinn Stewart aboard in the first inning before delivering a solo shot to lead off the sixth. Shortstop Mike DeJesus, who went 2-for-3, was the only other Jackal to record multiple hits in the contest while left fielder Ryan Rogowski and center fielder Billy Kovatch each drove in runs for New Jersey.

For the Capitales, first baseman Eddie Lantigua drove in five runs in a 3-for-5 day at the plate. Catcher Pete LaForest and third baseman Patrick Deschenes also each collected three hits in five at-bats. New Jersey starter Isaac Pavlik was removed from the game with two outs in the first inning with an undisclosed injury. Pavlik (5-3) took the loss after allowing five runs on two hits. The southpaw also hit two batters and surrendered a walk. Pavlik was relieved by rookie right-hander Mike Lorentson, who gave up six runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 frames.

Capitales left-hander Rhett Barber (1-2) yielded four runs on six hits in five innings while walking a batter and striking out five to earn his first win of the season. In the nightcap, the Jackals three-run first inning proved to be all the support right-hander Stuart Pomeranz (4-5) needed as New Jersey defeated Quebec 9-2.

Pomeranz went six innings and surrendered just two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out five. Meanwhile, Quebec starter Chris Allen (3-6) turned struggled through his worst outing of the season, giving up eight runs on 13 hits in three-plus innings. The Jackals 17 hits were two shy of their season-high despite coming up to bat just six times. Rookie catcher Chris Chiarappa led the charge, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and a hit by pitch. Right fielder Quentin Davis contributed a 3-for-4 effort while driving in three runs and crossing the plate once. DeJesus laced two doubles while Rogowski went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored.

The Jackals and Capitales continue their four-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. when New Jersey sends left-hander Giuseppe Granitto (0-2, 5.58 ERA) to the mound against Quebec right-hander Michel Simard (4-6, 4.02 ERA). Joey Whelan has the call on the live webcast beginning 10 minutes prior to first pitch.
