Time: 1:38 W: Paul Lussier (2-0) L: Nick Asselin (6-4) S: Jerry Dunn (12) HR: NH-Chris Kelly (14); BR-Phil Cuadrado (4), Palmer Karr (13), Clyde Williams 2 (11) The Brockton Rox rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the American Defenders of New Hampshire in game one of the doubleheader. Rox 1B Clyde Williams went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI while RF Jud Thigpen went 2-for-3 with a run scored. DH Palmer Karr also chipped in with his 13th home run of the season to aid the Brockton offense. Rox reliever Paul Lussier won his second game of the season going four innings allowing one run on four hits. New Hampshire 3B Chris Kelly had a 2-for-3 game with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in defeat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Brockton 4, New Hampshire 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings) @ Brockton, MA. Time: 2:05 Attendance: 3,598 W: Freddy Flores (3-1) L: Adam Piechowski (2-1) S: Jerry Dunn (13) HR: NH-Chris Kelly (15) Brockton broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth inning and went on to beat New Hampshire and sweep the doubleheader. Rox 3B Phil Cuadrado went 1-for-3 with two RBI and SS Dom Ramos had a 1-for-4 night with a run scored. Brockton starting pitcher Freddy Flores threw a terrific game en route to his third win of the season. Flores went six innings allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout. Rox closer Jerry Dunn collected his second save of the night and 13th overall for the season. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Quebec 13, New Jersey 5 (Game 1 - 7 Innings) @ Little Falls, NJ. Time: 2:27 W: Rhett Barber (1-2) L: Isaac Pavlik (5-3) S: None HR: NJ-Myron Leslie 2 (10) It was all Quebec in this one as the Capitales rolled out to an 11-2 lead after three innings and would go on from there to a 13-5 win over New Jersey in game one of the doubleheader. The 3-4-5 hitters of Quebec, C Pierre-Luc LaForest, 3B Pat Deschenes and 1B Eddie Lantigua went a combined 9-for-15 at the plate with six runs scored and seven RBI. Capitales starting pitcher Rhett Barber won his first game of the year. Barber gave up four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in five innings of work. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- New Jersey 9, Quebec 2 (Game 2 - 7 Innings) @ Little Falls, NJ. Time: 2:13 Attendance: 1,968 W: Stuart Pomeranz (4-5) L: Chris Allen (3-6) S: None HR: None New Jersey jumps on Quebec early and often as the Jackals go out to a 6-1 advantage after three innings and cruise to a 9-2 victory over the Capitales and gain a split in the doubleheader. LF Ryan Rogowski, RF Quentin Davis and C Chris Chiarappa each had three-hit games to lead the New Jersey offensive attack. Jackals starting pitcher Stuart Pomeranz gave up two earned runs on four hits in six innings to win his fourth game of the season. 2B Alex Nunez went 1-for-3 and scored a run to lead Quebec in defeat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sussex 8, Worcester 7 @ Augusta, NJ. Time: 3:08 Attendance: 3,743 W: Ed Campusano (1-0) L: Eddie Pena (0-1) S: None HR: SX-Jorge Moreno (4), Ray Serrano (5) DH Luis Soto's sacrifice fly in the ninth inning brought C Ray Serrano home with the game winning run to lead Sussex to victory over the Worcester Tornadoes. Serrano led the Skyhawks offense going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Sussex RF Maikel Jova chipped in with a 3-for-4 night with a run scored and three RBI. Skyhawks reliever Ed Campusano pitched two scoreless innings to notch his first victory of the season. Worcester RF Carlos Sosa was 2-for-5 with three RBI. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
