New Jersey Jackals News Release

LITTLE FALLS, NJ—The New Jersey Jackals today announced the signing of free agent outfielder Mike Glendenning to a contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26 year-old Glendenning has spent seven years in professional baseball since being selected in the 10th round of the 1996 draft by the San Francisco Giants. He has also played in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals organizations.

Three times in his career Glendenning has hit more than 20 home runs in a single season. In 1997, while playing at single-A Bakersfield, the right-handed hitting slugger set career-highs with 33 home runs and 100 RBI. He hit 28 home runs and drove in 99 runs in 1999 while splitting the season between single-A San Jose and double-A Shreveport; and during the 2000 campaign he connected for 22 home runs while splitting the season between Shreveport and triple-A Fresno.

"We had been searching for a real power threat to join Travis Bailey in the middle of our batting order this season," said Jackals' manager Joe Calfapietra. "Mike certainly fills that need. He has put up some terrific numbers over the years; and we're excited to see what he can do in our lineup this season."

Glendenning has played all or part of every season since 1998 at the double-A level, including last season when he appeared in 22 games for Wichita in the Royals chain.

The Jackals will open up their sixth season on May 22nd with a home game at Yogi Berra Stadium against the Berkshire Black Bears. For Jackals ticket information, fans can log on to www.jackals.com or call (973) 746-7434.
