Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- Opposing right handed hitters better watch out. The Bangor Lumberjacks, proud members of the Northeast League, announced today that they have acquired RHP Eric Moore from San Angelo of the Central League. The Jacks sent RHP Quentin Jones and LHP Shannon Royal to the Colts in exchange.

A side-armed reliever, Moore went 3-3 with a paltry 2.63 ERA in 48.0 innings pitched out of the Colts' bullpen. Moore struck out 35 in 39 appearances. The 26 year-old Moore was drafted in the 36th round of the 1998 draft by the Texas Rangers out of Lambuth College in Tennessee. Eric is 11-13 with an ERA of 4.38 in 181.0 career innings pitched.

"We are getting a guy who can get a groundball for a double play. He's tough on righties and will compete for the setup role," stated Jacks Manager Kash Beauchamp. "He's going to be looked at to get the other team's best right-handed hitter out."

Royal was 2-1 with a 8.44 ERA for the Lumberjacks last season after being acquired from the Lincoln (NE) Saltdogs, while starting and relieving. Jones went 2-1 with a 4.79 ERA in 28 appearances, including his first professional start.

The Lumberjacks open the 2003 campaign on the road against the Allentown (PA) Ambassadors on Thursday, May 22, but return to Bangor for the home opener on Friday, May 30 at 7 PM against the New Jersey Jackals at Mahaney Diamond.
