
Jackals Plate Three in Eighth to Defeat Quebec

The New Jersey Jackals won an exciting game one of the series against the Quebec Capitales as the Jackals came back from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the number two seed in the Canadian-American League on Friday night.
The Capitales took an early lead in the top of the first inning when third baseman Brad Antchak delivered an RBI single to drive in shortstop Yordan Manduley.
In the bottom of the third inning, right fielder Nolan Meadows singled to right field and catcher Kevin Torres hit an RBI triple down the first base line to even the contest, 1-1.
After three scoreless innings, catcher Adam Ehrlich laced an RBI double to score center fielder Jordan Serena for the Capitales to take the lead. Designated hitter Maxx Tissenbaum also RBI doubled to score Ehrlich, turning the score to 3-1.
Jackals starter Vic Black pitched six and a third innings in a quality outing.
The Jackals battled back in the bottom of the eighth inning when Meadows hit a triple down the first base line and pinch hitter Andrew Mocahbee hit an RBI single to score Meadows. The Caps lead was cut to 3-2.
First basemen Dean Green lined to center field to score Mocahbee from second and tie the game at 3-3! David Harris then hit an RBI single to left to score Jordan Hinshaw and give the Jackals a 4-3 lead.
Former MLB pitcher Matt Latos got the win after pitching 1.1 innings. Latos struck out 3 and allowed no hits.
The Jackals will play game two against the Quebec Capitales, also Star Wars night, on Saturday, July 23rd.
First pitch is set for 6:05 pm.
