Jackals Overcome by Titans, Fall 4-2

Trenton, N.J. - One night after recording a three-goal rally to snap a seven game winless skid, the Elmira Jackals (27-17-2-2) saw their opponent put together a similar performance at the Sun National Bank Center on Sunday, as the Trenton Titans (16-25-3-4) scored three unanswered goals in the third period to rally past the Jackals, 4-2, and earn their first victory since Jan. 27.
Matt Campanale banged home a backdoor feed from Artem Demkov, as the Jackals struck at 5:12 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead with a power-play tally.
Later in the period, Kyle Reeds redirected a Mike Devin shot from the right point into the net, but referee Tom Chmielewski ruled that Reeds tipped it with a high stick and waved the goal off,
The Titans used a legal tip to tie the game, 1-1, at 9:12 of the second. Dustin Cameron got a piece of a shot by Rob Bordson with Trenton on its second power play, turning it past Brian Stewart to even the score.
Jimmy Martin's power-play goal 1:11 into the third period put the Jackals back in front. Martin drove in a puck from the right point that deflected off the glove of Brad Phillips and in, giving the Jackals a 2-1 edge.
The Titans' rally started when Cameron poked in a centering feed from Steve Silva at 6:52 of the final frame, tying the score, 2-2. They took their first lead when Silva knocked in a pass from Cameron at the top of the crease, as Trenton grabbed the 3-2 advantage at 16:23. Andy Bohmbach pushed home a puck into an empty net at 19:25, extending the lead to 4-2 and sealing the contest.
Stewart (16-9-1-0) made 25 saves on 28 shots. Phillips (5-8-0-0) won his first game since Jan. 14 with 29 stops.

All four games at the Sun Center this season between Elmira and Trenton have been won by a team which has trailed in the third period...The Titans overcame a 3-1 third-period deficit on Nov. 4 for a 4-3 win, the Jackals overcame 1-0 third-period deficits on Dec. 4 and 31 for 2-1 shootout victories...The loss was Elmira's first to Trenton since Nov. 25 and snapped a five-game winning streak versus the Titans...The Jackals saw their tie of first place in the Atlantic Division slip away, as Wheeling beat Reading, 7-5, on Sunday to take a two-point lead
